The Producers

Hot on the heels of Oklahoma!, Workington and District Amateur Musical Society are proud to present their 60th anniversary show, with the West Cumbrian premiere of Mel Brook's record breaking, Tony Award winning love letter to Broadway, The Producers.

On discovering they can make more money by staging a flop, long time failing producer Max Bialystock and his uptight accountant Leo Bloom concoct a plan to make $2m by soliciting "investments from lonely little old ladies" and staging the worst play they can find. To ensure failure they choose a play they are sure will offend - "Springtime for Hitler". Unfortunately their get rich quick scheme becomes complicated when the production turns out to be a rip - roaring success.

Adapted from Mel Brook's 1968 film, this hilarious comedy musical opened on Broadway in 2001, has since won 12 Tony Awards.  A three year run on the West End stage also proved to be a mega - crowd pleaser.

This production promises to be a musical treat full of high energy choreography, slapstick comedy and polished performances.

Includes some adult content.
